New Winchester Restaurant on the Cards?

The desirability of Winchester as a place to call home is well documented, with Winchester estate agents having been pleased by a recent Channel Four documentary that proclaimed the city as the best place to live in the UK.

The growth of the city's commercial sector has reflected the thriving nature of this sought-after Hampshire location. With more and more people looking to invest money in the city, hopes are high that it will continue to be one of the country's top property magnets.

Recent news has suggested that Waitrose are close to completing a deal that would see them open a new store in the city, rivalling existing stores from supermarket chains Sainsburys and Tesco.

Following the closure of the Somerfields store in the city centre, it's replacement with a large Next outlet has boosted the choice when it comes to clothes and fashion.

Now, it seems, the city may be on the verge of gaining a new restaurant. Rumours suggest that Zizzi's, the restaurant chain, is planning to open up a branch in the old Hampshire Chronicle building at the top end of the High Street.

More choice must be a good thing for Winchester's diners.
