Viewing a House
When you come tou buying a property the way in which you go about viewing a house is vital. It may sound like a fairly obvious thing to say about a pretty simple task but you need to give the viewing process some consideration.
There are plenty of websites around that will allow you to download checklists for things to look out for when viewing properties and questions to ask. These will include things like trying to look out for signs of damp and subsidence.
What is often not mentioned is that there is a definite art to viewing houses. This doesn't simply apply to properties in Winchester, or indeed within the UK. This is a universal phenomenon.
When you come to look around a property it's vital that you do so by thinking about the potential of the property. Too many prospective purchasers get bogged down with looking at what they perceive as the existing problems with the house.
For example, many viewers become pre-occupied with looking at the existing decor, furniture and cleanliness. In reality, it's important that you look beyond these relatively meaningless details.
After all, when you come to move into a new home you are not going to be relying on the previous owners furniture. You'll also want to put your own mark on the house. While it might be nice to move into a house that does not need any decorating, in all likelihood you will be looking to re-decorate anyway to ensure that everything is to your taste.
When you are viewing a property, make sure that you are looking to the future. Being stuck in the present may mean that you miss out on a bargain.
