Winchester Bucking The Trend?
Recent figures released by the Land Registry appear to show that Winchester property prices are currently bucking an increasing nationwide trend.
The figures for all property sales in April 2007 show that a number of regions of the UK are now experiencing falling house prices.
Headline nationwide figures of a 0.6% increase in house prices for the month hide some large differences throughout the country.
The month saw house prices falling in Yorkshire& The Humber, North West England, the South West and the North East. In the West Midlands, meanwhile, house prices were static.
The London property market and surrounding areas, including Winchester and much of Hampshire, continue to drive increasing UK house prices. Hampshire saw a 1.1% upward movement in house prices for the month, taking prices up by an average of 8.7% for the previous 12 months.
The average price of a home in Hampshire now stands at £218,285. In April 2006 the figure stood at £200,879.
