Winchester House Prices
Winchester house prices appear to be continuing on their upward trend, according to house price data that is shown on various key indicator websites.
A new listing produced by the Our Property website shows locations in Winchester with the highest property prices over the last 2 years. According to these figures, the top three streets in the city are Sleepers Hill, Kerrfield and Kilham Lane.
The average price of a property on Sleepers Hill for this period stands at more than £1 million.
With such figures, it is little wonder that some Winchester estate agents compare property trends in the city with those experienced in London and other larger commuter towns in the south east.
Winchester has benefitted in recent years from income provided by London workers looking to move out of the capital. The Hampshire location offers easy access for commuters, while also being close to a more relaxing, rural environment, typified by the New Forest.
Within the city it is clear that house prices vary considerably. The locations mentioned above all have a number of large, detached houses. Given that this is the case, it's perhaps not surprising to see them at the top of the property value list.
In terms of trends, however, it is not necessarily detached homes that have seen the greatest rise in prices over the last few years. Terraced houses in central locations have seen some big increases, part driven by the buy-to-let market.
