Winchester Property Bargains

Are there still property bargains to be found in Winchester? That's a question that many are asking, with property prices having increased so much over the past decade that some would be first-time buyers are simply being priced out of the Winchester housing market.

We decided to take a look at some of the lower priced properties that are currently on the market. A glance through the pages of the Hampshire Chronicle revealed quite a range of properties available for under £175,000, although locations and types of property do tend to vary considerably.

Being marketed by Alexanders, for example, was a 2-bedroom "park home" in Colden Common, available for £59,950. Judging from the details, however, you would basically be getting a fixed-position mobile home for your money.

For those looking for more of an investment in bricks and mortar, Complete Property Services were marketing a studio flat in the very central location of Staple Gardens (priced at just £105,000).

Also marketed by Complete was a one bedroom flat in Firmstone Road, priced at £139,950. This did seem like something of a bargain and was indeed under offer at the time of writing.

Our search does show that there is still hope for first-time buyers - there are some nice one-bedroom properties available in central locations at relatively reasonable prices.

Then again - all prices are relative and house prices in Winchester remain considerably higher than other locations in Hampshire and along the south coast.
